Dr. Lisa Calderón Endorses Scott Baldermann for HD2

I’m proud to endorse Scott Baldermann for his record of concrete results, principled leadership, and unwavering commitment to equity in Denver Public Schools.

Scott’s advocacy began as a PTA president, where he exposed a broken funding model that forced parents to fundraise for basic necessities like paraprofessionals, classroom supplies, and curriculum. That experience shaped his work on the DPS Board of Education, where he pushed to make sure essential educational needs are district-funded — not dependent on a school’s zip code or parents’ ability to give.

As a school board member, Scott delivered real wins in collaboration with the Denver Classroom Teachers Association. He consistently fought to redirect resources out of bureaucracy and into classrooms, supported fair compensation and retention for educators, and opposed policies that weakened collective bargaining or undermined worker protections under the guise of “innovation.” His leadership helped center educator voice and labor rights in district decision-making.

Scott also advanced equity-focused policy by holding innovation schools accountable to union contracts and tenure laws, ensuring that flexibility never came at the expense of teacher rights or student stability.

At a time of declining enrollment, Scott led on transparent, equity-driven planning around school consolidation, insisting on clear timelines, community engagement, and protections for communities of color.

Scott doesn’t just talk about equity — he legislates it, budgets for it, and defends it. I’m proud to stand with a leader who delivers proven results for students, educators, and working families.
